If you’ve been around our slice of the state for a while, you’ve heard about Bakke Norman Law Office. The award-winning attorneys who founded the firm planted its roots in Northwestern Wisconsin nearly 40 years ago. Since then, they have stood strong as the go-to for those needing dependable, adaptable advisors and advocates in their corner. Today, Bakke Norman has four regional offices and continues to go to bat for individuals, businesses, and local municipalities.

It’s often said it’s the people who make the place. At Bakke Norman, that sentiment is personified by the 12 lawyers and their team of paralegals, legal assistants and professional staff who dedicate their decades of institutional expertise to their clients. “It’s not just about consistency, which we certainly bring to the table,” said senior partner Tim O’Brien. “It’s about the invaluable institutional knowledge of our team.”

Being serviced by the same lawyers, paralegals and legal assistants, time and time again, is business as usual at Bakke Norman. Attorneys like Tom Schumacher, Tamara Skoglund, and Deanne Koll are walking examples of the reputable, proven service for which the firm is known.

As one of the founding partners of Bakke Norman, Tom Schumacher has been advising individuals, businesses and community banks and credit unions in business formation, buying, selling, and succession planning for over 40 years. Attorney Schumacher not only brings his deep legal knowledge to his clients; he also applies his experience as a respected community leader in Western Wisconsin to craft solutions to the unique needs of each client. From his years on the boards of local Economic Development Committees, to his School Board service and youth sports coaching, to his 20 plus years on the Wisconsin Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors, Schumacher has consistently led by example as a practical, solution-based attorney.

Deanne Koll began her legal career at Bakke Norman in 2006 and has been a force in the firm ever since. Practicing in creditors’ rights, secured transactions and business litigation, Koll has continued to hone her deep expertise in commercial restructuring and business finance matters, as well as civil litigation. Her extensive and continued professional accomplishments and honors display Koll’s statewide reputation, including involvement with the State Bar of Wisconsin, serving as its current Treasurer. Plus, she was designated a “Super Lawyer” in her first year of eligibility, an honor also awarded multiple times to her law partners Tim O’Brien and Bill Wallo.

On top of practicing law with Bakke Norman, Tamara Skoglund is also a CPA and the managing partner of Richardson Tax & Accounting. She applies her double-edged tax and law expertise to estate planning, real estate, business law, probate and trust administration. She has been providing legal services to individuals, farms and businesses for over 20 years.

What the three attorneys have in common — as do all at Bakke Norman — are the tough-to-attain qualities the firm looks for in its team: Knowledge, consistency and adaptability.

“As a lawyer, you are often asked to predict the future for your clients,” O’Brien explained. “To do so, it is important to understand and interpret past legal precedent while also staying on the cutting edge of the latest developments in the law. At Bakke Norman, we rely on the institutional knowledge that comes from long-term, dedicated attorneys and staff who are also able to adapt to the latest changes in law and society.”

Clients and the communities Bakke Norman Law Offices serve recognize the firm’s exceptional well of talent, knowledge and experience. The firm looks forward to continuing to serve individuals, businesses and municipalities throughout Northwestern Wisconsin for decades to come!
