Bruce Warren: Edifices and Artifacts Opening Reception
Edifices and Artifacts is a photographic exploration in black and white of buildings, bridges and other cultural artifacts located in the Chippewa Valley, predominately in Eau Claire. While most of the subject matter is architectural in nature, the intent is not to portray the objects in their entirety or place them in their environmental context. Rather, the emphasis is on the interesting details, lines, textures, shadows, and reflections found in the larger structure, sometimes to the point of abstraction. Technically, photographs are artifacts and this is especially true for a few of these images, since they are of structures that no longer exist.
