The SandBar & Grill outside Chippewa Falls has generated all kinds of buzz as it has grown into a hot spot on the Lake Wissota scene, becoming known for quality food and drinks as well as a great time.

"I needed to do something different with my career, and I always loved to cook for other people, so why not open my own bar and grill?" – Seth Gebauer, SandBar & Grill

Owner Seth Gebauer, a former liquor sales representative, opened The SandBar & Grill in 2014 out of a desire for a change of pace while drawing on things he knew. “I needed to do something different with my career, and I always loved to cook for other people, so why not open my own bar and grill?” he says. Since opening The SandBar, he has worked to offer a friendly neighborhood watering hole with good food and drinks as well as great staff – a place where something is always going on.

The SandBar serves lunch, dinner, and drinks daily from 11am-2am. Breakfast is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30-11:30am. The menu is extensive, featuring goodies such as potato pancakes, caramel apple bread, the Yummy Delicious Burger, pizza, sandwiches, and more. For drinks, they have all the local favorites including Leinenkugel’s beer on tap, mojitos, mules, and of course, the Old Fashioned.

The SandBar & Grill has something special going on almost every day, from horseshoes and bean bags to volleyball, darts, bingo, and trivia. Comedy nights and cribbage tournaments occur regularly. There’s currently live music every Friday night, and once the Packer season is over in February, there will also be live performances on Sundays. The music starts at 9pm and runs until midnight, and there is no cover charge for the music or reserve seating.

Because of its location, the SandBar is an idea starting point to explore Lake Wissota, which is why it offers canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards for rent by the hour. You can work up an appetite paddling on the water, then return for a meal.

In addition to daily specials and deals on Packer and Badger game days, The SandBar & Grill offers perks for military members. “Military Mondays is something I started to give back to those that serve us,” Gebauer said. Any member of the military who shows ID gets a free drink or appetizer with a meal purchase. Gebauer said the military benefits are inspired by many of his friends who are veterans and his strong appreciation for those who serve.

The SandBar & Grill, 17643 50th Ave., Chippewa Fall continues to grow and evolve, and there are always opportunities to get in on the fun. To find out what’s happening, check out lakewissotasandbar.com or find them on Facebook.
