New Hotel Planned for Downtown Chippewa Falls

V1 Staff |

Eau Claire isn’t the only city in the Chippewa Valley that will soon have new downtown lodging options: The Chippewa Falls City Council voted in late October to sell a vacant lot at the entrance to downtown to a Neenah-based firm, WHG Companies, which plans to build a Cobblestone Hotel and Suites there. The site, 100 N. Bridge St., was formerly home to the Plaza building, which was demolished earlier this year. According to the Leader-Telegram, the four-story Cobblestone Hotel will have 45 rooms and will include a restaurant, bar, and swimming pool. Construction is expected to start in January with the $6 million hotel slated to open next August. The city sold the property for $500,000, but also incentivized the project through $1.05 million in Tax Incremental Financing and grants.
