The Northern Wisconsin State Fair promises to be a “family affair” featuring more music, entertainment, rides, exhibits, and fair food than you can shake a corndog stick at. Bank Mutual is sponsoring the annual fair in Chippewa Falls, now in its 117th year. The main stage will feature the likes of country singers Joe Nichols and Brett Eldredge, popular ’80s group Loverboy, and the ever-so-funky Here Come the Mummies, featuring special guest Tonic Sol-fa. For the third year in a row, the Swiftly Swine Racing Pigs will race every day of the fair, and returning to the Gordy’s Front Porch Stage is comedy hypnotist Terry Davolt. The animals won’t be in short supply either, as the Royal White Tiger exhibit is in town and the poultry/rabbit barn will be ready to be explored. Carnival rides are available via deals for tickets and wristbands, so kids can spin, tilt, and whirl to their heart’s content all day. Curious minds can also seek out the Science and Technology Building for wine, beer, honey, and syrup competitions or to see physics presentations put on by local universities. Gates are open 9am to 10pm each day of the fair. On-site parking is $5, and free parking is available just outside the grounds. See northernwistatefair.com for details, then see your friends at the fair!
