Bank helps pay off school lunch balances

Many things can get in the way of children living up to their full potential in the classroom, including worrying about whether they can afford a school lunch. Now kids in four Chippewa Valley school districts can put those worries behind them thanks to a donation by a local bank.

Just before Christmas, Security Financial Bank, which has branches in five western Wisconsin communities, donated $2,000 each to the Eau Claire, Bloomer, Durand, and River Falls school districts to pay off negative balances in students’ school lunch accounts.

The No Negative Balances campaign also gathered several hundred dollars in donations from bank customers. “We hope this helps ease the burden of families who may be facing some extra bills during the holiday season,” SFB President and CEO Paul Rudersdorf commented. “We are proud to be a member of each of these communities we serve, and with that, we feel a responsibility to help those in need.”
