background

Baylee Avery and her husband, Joe, are welcoming the new year with a new addition to their family: baby Henry was born at the end of November, joining a big brother, 3-year-old Charles. While having a newborn may mean more time spent indoors in the next few months, at other times you’ll find the family enjoying camping, fishing, hunting, and traveling. As Baylee explains, “Just about any activity that will help Charles burn off some energy is welcome!” Baylee, who works at Royal Credit Union’s corporate office in downtown Eau Claire, grew up on the north side of Eau Claire and is a graduate of North High and UW-Eau Claire. With her family in Eau Claire and her husband’s in Menomonie, free time for the Averys is family-filled, and such a support system is welcome with two little ones. “Right now our lives are a bit crazy,”Baylee says. “With a newborn in the house we are sleep deprived, but our eldest keeps us on our toes between his astonishing energy level and his love of all things trains.”

We love the Chippewa Valley because not only is our family here, but we love the close-knit feel of the community, and we enjoy the farmers markets and the fact that there is always something for us to do on the weekends if we need to get out of the house.

I couldn’t live without our support system. Family is everything!

My favorite place to take the kids is our local elementary school playground, or any park with playground equipment.

My family has taught me the value of time and living for the moment: Before we had our boys, I was always looking to the future and what to plan next. Now I try to enjoy each moment for what it is. Time goes way too fast when your kids are growing.

I never leave the house without the diaper bag and an extra outfit for the kids, you never know when someone will need a change!

Our typical weekend is camping or time spent with family.

In the winter, you’ll find us having low key family time at home. Disney movies are a staple in our house!

When the kids are with a sitter, we love to go out for dinner, it is nice to be able to eat when our food is hot!

My spouse always laughs at me because I tend to laugh at just about any joke, even if they aren’t funny to other people.

My spouse would say my super power is my ability to consume dessert at an alarming rate. (what can I say?! I love sweets!)

My kid(s) will tell you that their mom can fix it. Charlie asks for Mommy (or Daddy) to fix it (no matter what it is) multiple times a day!

If I could pass on one bit of advice it would be cherish the time you have with the people who mean most to you. You never know when someone will pass or move far away. Absence does make the heart grow fonder, but happy memories and a true appreciation for those you love will pay off in the long run.
