Finding Cool Species at Beaver Creek

V1 Staff |

The Citizen Science Centers recently completed its 2016 Biotic Inventory. Volunteers and a host of nature experts gathered at Beaver Creek Reserve to comb the terrain for species that could be added to the species list. The discovery of a new species for the list leads to more  knowledge in an attempt to connect the BRC volunteers to nature. A lot of ground was surveyed by volunteers toting hand lenses, insect nets, bug spray, and field guides who were in search of a wide array of reptiles and amphibians, mammals, insects, and arachnids. The information found during the specific summer programs assist in helping create a Comprehensive Forest Land Use Plan, which helps provide a snapshot of species that call Beaver Creek Reserve home.
