Braid a Rug Instead of Cutting One

V1 Staff |

Want to learn a skill dating back to Colonial timeS while making something to cover your cold, hard floors this winter? Then head on over to the Chippewa Valley Museum with your favorite Rugrat to learn about the art of wool rug braiding.

Rug Braider Beverly Ramey will instruct participants on how to prepare the materials and get a rug started. She will also teach braiding and lacing techniques and how to finish the rug. If interested, you must be 12 years or older and know how to use a needle and thread. Sessions will be on Jan. 7, 21, and 28 from 1pm-5pm.

If desired, participants can choose to attend one or all three sessions. The cost for all three sessions is $30 for museum members or $35 for non-members. Use your own wool for the project or purchase a wool kit from the museum for an additional $25.

Space is limited for this event, so contact Liz Reuter at (715) 834-7871 or l.reuter@cvmuseum.com by Jan. 3.
