Two-day music festival possible in Carson Park

Imagine some music up in here.
Imagine some live music up in here.

A full-blown two-day music festival could be added to the mix in Eau Claire in September 2014. Currently making its way through the various local councils and boards needed to gain approval, the proposed event, dubbed “The Oxbow Music & Arts Festival,” is planned to take place on the various playing fields of Carson Park and expects to have three stages including a main stage, mid-size stage, and a smaller tent-based stage, as well as an art festival, food, beer, and more. If you didn’t catch that, the “Oxbow” name is a reference to the festival taking place in the park that’s surrounded by Half Moon Lake, a body of water technically known as an oxbow. While they’re not ready to announce a line-up just yet, the music will be focused on current rock, blues, and folk. The festival’s organizer, Nick Barbian, is a Wisconsin native who currently resides in Austin, TX. He’s been involved in the production of a variety of festivals across the country and would like to bring his expertise back to his home state. Barbian is currently assembling a team to produce the event (which, in full disclosure Volume One has helped play a role), and has already been in town several times to work on plans and permits. Stay tuned in the coming months as more announcements regarding the festival are made.
