Kluver

Local teen author Cayla Kluver’s legacy continues this summer with book signings, releases, and, of course, hours and hours of daydreaming and writing.  If you enjoy princesses falling in love with mystery men from rival kingdoms, exciting adventures occurring in faraway lands, and colorful characters who may or may not be based loosely upon local people in Cayla's life … you may want to pick up a copy of Legacy.

The first time we talked to Cayla, she was just fifteen, but already finding success with the release of her first published novel. Since then, Legacy has been re-released by AmazonEncore, and has now been picked up by Harlequin TEEN. Which means there are quite a few editions floating around out there, in both soft and hardcover.

And guess what? The story will continue in two more installments. That’s right: it’s trilogy time.

Despite her success at such a young age, Cayla hasn't let any of it go to her head, with the help of her "two extremely sarcastic sisters." Who, as Cayla states, "keep me in my place pretty well." She also feels like her journey into the writing world has really only just begun. As she finishes the last two books in the Legacy trilogy, it's with excitement that she'll soon get to branch out and write new things. Cayla, who admits to loving everything from crime and mystery novels to thrillers and emotional journey tales, wants to dive into some of these genres. "I've been working the medieval scene for awhile now," she says, "and I don't want to be restricted in the future. My attention span isn't long enough to handle restrictions."

And, for you fans here in Eau Claire, she contributes a lot of her success to you:

Eau Claire is such a great city ... I love the people there and have gotten a ton of support from my friends, teachers and family in the area. I was even blessed enough to be invited into a Legacy book club as a guest speaker for some wonderful young men and women. Everybody is fantastic--thank you so much!

If you’re a fan of Legacy, you’ll be excited to learn that Cayla will be signing copies of her debut novel at Borders on Thursday, July 14 from 6 pm-8 pm.

You can expect the second book in the series, Allegiance, to hit the shelves sometime in February 2012.
