FACT #1: The Library of Congress owns an 18-wheel big rig customized to transport high-quality facsimiles of many of the nation’s most precious textual treasures. FACT #2: They're gonna roll that truckin' convoy ’cross the USA.

Seriously. They’re about to put the hammer down.

"Breaker breaker, this is the Library of Congress. Come back."

The truck — affectionately known as the Gateway to Knowledge exhibition — is stopping at only three Wisconsin towns: Eau Claire, Fond du Lac, and Janesville. It’s mission is to haul information about the millions of resources in the Library’s unparalleled collections to small towns and rural communities across America—areas that may not be aware of their access to the wealth of information in this publicly funded institution.

The exhibit will be in Eau Claire on Friday, Nov. 19, and Saturday, Nov. 20, from 10 am to 6pm both days. It will be parked at the Oakwood Mall (4800 Golf Road). The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Details: The trailer expands to three times its road width, and visitors will enter from a central staircase to find several areas of museum-style exhibits including a welcoming multimedia display and computer terminals displaying Library of Congress websites. Founded in 1800, the Library of Congress is the nation’s oldest federal cultural institution. Invented in this century, big rig semi trucks kick ass. Info link!

And as we all know, ain’t nothing like a welcoming multimedia display.
