Concert Series Season Update

For anyone who hasn't made it down to Volume One's Sounds Like Summer Concert Series yet this year, here's an update! We've been seeing record crowds almost every Thursday night down in Phoenix Park for a wide variety of local bands. Last Thursday, the gig for The Daredevil Christopher Wright and Mike Perry & the Long Beds set what was likely the new attendance record with approximately 1,500 people through the park that night. People in lawn chairs and on blankets have been sprawling up over the banks of the labyrinth area and have been camped out along the river and quite a ways out towards the farmers' market. It's been amazing. We've got a full service grill out there from Action City, two full 9 Degrees Ice Cream carts, and several local non-profits often set up to promote their own endeavors. We've added a 12-page printed brochure that tells people about the series, it's available free at the V1 concert headquarters tent where we're also selling concert series t-shirts and tons of other cool local stuff. But my favorite part is that people are actually buying local music! We've got a display of nearly 20 recently released local albums from bands playing the series. It's really fun to have such a massive crowd be so interested in local music. Things are looking good. Thanks to everyone who's been coming down, and especially to those of you who stop by the tent to say hello, the V1 staff appreciates it!

Here's a quick 15-second video that shows a scan across the crowd from on top of the hill. The band playing in this particular clip is Mike Perry and the Long Beds.
