The Back Alley Needs You!

We wanted to let you know that this summer’s Back-Alley Summer Cinema Series is at risk. Our community partners, WHYS 96.3fm have once again volunteered to help us out and sell concessions, but we’ve been unable to find a business sponsor this year to help offset the costs of operating and promoting the series. This summer could mark the fifth straight season of Monday night movies, but unless a heroic local sponsor steps up to save the series, we’ll have to call it off this year. With all the events we produce, it's tough to tackle the costs on our own for production, advertising, and the hours our staff works to make it happen. Personally, these downtown, open-air screenings are one of my favorite things Volume One produces. With between 150 and 200 people coming each night, I’ve always felt the series was an especially cool thing for the community. Lots of towns have concerts in parks, etc. Not many have indie movie screenings in their downtown’s brick alleys. So if you or someone you know might have connections to help us find a sponsor, now would be the time to speak up and save this community event. We have until about May 31.
