"February" Screening and Q&A
Screening and Q&A hosted by filmmaker Nathan Deming. FEBRUARY is part of a 12-part series with a film for every month of the year, all set in the same town in Wisconsin. The story focuses on the experience of Mexican immigrants in Wisconsin and their challenge to assimilate and overcome racism, microaggressions, etc.
February is the 2nd in the series, shot mostly in Eau Claire and frozen parts of Lake Altoona.
Filmmaker bio:
Filmmaker Nathan Deming is originally from the Eau Claire area and is now based in Los Angeles. Deming has studied under the renowned British filmmaker Mike Leigh at the London Film School, where he developed a foundation in character-driven storytelling, collaborative filmmaking, and a strong desire to capture his home state on film in a way that it hasn't been.
Accolades:
FEBRUARY has won the top prize at the Wisconsin Film Festival, Best Short Film at the Milwaukee Independent Film Awards, and Best Supporting Actor award for the Ice Fishermen character.
