Best Golf Course

1st Place: Hickory Hills
2nd Place: Wild Ridge
3rd Place: Princeton Valley

As soon as I learned that Hickory Hills (E4080 Hickory Road, Eau Claire) won yet again, I headed over to face my nemesis — Hickory Hills’ hole No. 2, par three — and hit the green for the very first time. I was that excited for them! The view from standing on top of this hole is “meditation-nirvana-ish.” Wild Ridge (3905 Kane Road, Eau Claire) is the local championship links-style course with fairways so wonderfully groomed that I want to live on them. Not next to them in a house … directly on them. Princeton Valley (2300 W. Princeton Ave., Eau Claire) has that perfectly laid out nine-hole course with the signature par three peninsula-shaped No. 6 hole. One great memory was playing here while the Blue Angels practiced directly overhead. Princeton Valley also has the best practice areas. —Rob Reid
