Best Public Art Installation (non-gallery)

1st Place: Sculpture Tour Eau Claire
2nd Place: Garbage swan at Banbury Place
3rd Place: Bateman fish on Water Street

Sculpture Tour Eau Claire won this category by a landslide. Now in its fifth year, the free outdoor walking tour exhibits 30-or-so sculptures newly created and loaned every year by North American artists in downtown Eau Claire. Shout out to Eau Claire Ford’s Sherry and Rick Mohr for launching this tour in 2011 to thank Eau Claire for its wonderful welcome. (The tour is based on their hometown’s Sioux Falls Sculpture Walk.) Found-object sculptor Steve Bateman captured No. 2 and No. 3 with his Garbage Swan at Banbury Place — which keeps an eye on Galloway Street — and the fish fashioned from auto parts next to the New York Pizza & Deli on Water Street. —Barbara Arnold
