Best Folk Performer(s)

1st Place: Brian Bethke
2nd Place: Mike Perry & The Long Beds
3rd Place: The Shillelagh Lads

Osseo folk rock juggernaut Brian Bethke scores Best Folk Performer this year. A common appearance on this list, Bethke slid up on the placement podium in the last two years, as he was voted second place in this same category for the 2010 and 2010 Volume One reader polls. Fronted by Fall Creek author Michael Perry (you’ve heard of him, right?), the Long Beds place second this year, still cooling from the excitement of 2010’s “Tiny Pilot”, and Perry’s latest book “Visiting Tom” made the New York Times’ bestseller list may have had something to do with it. Local Irish folk balladeers The Shillelagh Lads land on third place this year. While it is a drop from first place in the 2011 poll, we’re thrilled these lads placed again. Check out their holiday shows at Houligans in the upcoming months. – Tyler Griggs
