Best Beach

1st Place: Big Falls
2nd Place: Lake Altoona
3rd place: Phoenix Park

The rumble of rushing water and the exciting challenged of carrying an afternoon’s worth of beach gear across a river are a few of the many reasons why Big Falls has won Best Beach for six years in a row. The sand is soft and the falls provide adventurous fun for explorers and adrenaline junkies. With a variety of amenities and a large beach next to 840 acres of water, there are plenty of reasons for to give Lake Altoona a silver medal. The parties, the swimming, and the boating have created generations of memories. Finally, Phoenix Park doesn’t offer a traditional sandy beach, but it’s so awesome it made the list anyway. The farmers market and the walking trails are the epitome of what a city park should be. The park’s beachiest part is well known to the hundreds of summer tubers who pile in at the confluence of the Eau Claire and Chippewa rivers. –Caleb Gerdes
