Best Italian Food

1st Place: Draganetti’s Ristorante
2nd Place: Mona Lisa’s Restaurant
3rd Place: Olive Garden

For the eighth year in a row, Draganetti’s Ristorante (3120 Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona) has won first place in this category. Draganetti’s has been in the Chippewa Valley for more than 50 years and continues its long family tradition of serving authentic Italian dishes, including a pizza, lasagna, and a to-die-for tiramisu. Others claim Mona Lisa’s (428 Water St., Eau Claire) has the best tiramisu; being here two decades has not hurt Mona’s Italian fare, which is heavy on the pasta cooked perfectly al dente, with luscious sauces and meat, chicken, or seafood. Coming in third is our local Olive Garden (4920 Golf Road, Eau Claire), which is re-branding itself as “The Italian Kitchen” and continues to serve unlimited breadsticks, much to customers’ delight. All three have pretty robust wine lists, which doesn’t hurt their likeability at all. All were so closely ranked in our poll that anyone desiring Italian food in the Chippewa Valley couldn’t go wrong with any of them. –Barbara Arnold
