Best Touring Theatrical Production In The Past Year

1st Place: Super Happy Funtime Burlesque Show (House of Rock)
2nd Place: Wiley & The Hairy Man (UWEC)
3rd Place: Ramona Quimby (ECCT)

It’s not every day you see a list that ties the Super Happy Funtime Burlesque Show to Ramona Quimby, but here it is. Designed to “find your line and cross it”, the Super Happy Funtime Burlesque Show made some fans when the troupe played the House of Rock in May with the edgy, clever fun and original music that characterize its boisterous bedevilment of the boring. Changing gears then to children’s theater, your second favorite was a production put on by the UWEC theater department called Wiley & The Hairy Man. The production toured local elementary schools telling the mysterious story of a boy named Wiley who learns to conquer his fears. And the final pick is Ramona Quimby, a play based on the books by Beverly Cleary that tells stories of the twists and turns of the everyday life of Ramona, an imaginative and exuberant girl. Perhaps she will live into that exuberance and grow up to join Super Happy Funtime and the circle started by this paragraph will be complete. –Hope Greene
