Best Community Business Leader

1st Place: Zach Halmstad (JAMF)
2nd Place: Rudy Pereira (RCU)
3rd Place: Jeff Schafer (Gordy’s)

If Volume One were a local version of Fortune or Forbes, JAMF Software founder and co-CEO Zach Halmstad would have been on our cover more than once in the past year. Not only has this homegrown tech guru’s firm been expanding by leaps and bounds – revenue reportedly has grown 50 to 70 percent annually in recent years – but he’s distinguished himself as a community visionary, building a new downtown office, donating generously toward the Confluence Project, and investing in two downtown hotel projects. No. 2 is Halmstad’s next-door business neighbor, Royal Credit Union CEO Rudy Pereira, who has only been in town a few years but has already distinguishing himself by following in the community-minded footsteps of his predecessor, Charlie Grossklaus. Rounding out our list of business leaders is Jeff Schafer, president of the family-owned Gordy’s County Market, which has grown to 16 grocery stores in communities large and small across west-central Wisconsin. –Tom Giffey
