Best Body of Water for Recreation

1st Place: Lake Wissota
2nd Place: Chippewa River
3rd Place: Lake Altoona

While there are plenty of places to cool off in the Chippewa Valley, but it’s no surprise that Lake Wissota and the Chippewa River are the top two. Lake Wissota is the biggest body of water in the area, with a 250-foot long beach and plenty of room to go water skiing, canoeing, or kayaking. The Chippewa River, in addition to boating, canoeing, and fishing, is a prime body of water for one of the region’s hottest recreation activities: tubing. Grabbing some friends and spending the afternoon floating down the Chippewa River has become a summertime tradition. Lake Altoona is also a hot spot for summer activities, especially if you need to get some fishing in. The lake has two boat landings and a variety of fish when you want to kick back and relax. –Mike Seitz
