Most Memorable Happening In The Past Year

1st Place: 22-inch snowfall

2nd Place: Packers win Super Bowl

3rd Place: Protests about the budget

This past year was a big one for the Valley, a fact made clear from this year’s winners of the “Most Memorable Happening.” In first is the doozy of a snowstorm we got on December 11. Twenty-two inches fell on the Valley, leaving people stranded, forcing businesses and schools to close, and infuriating those with sidewalks and places to go. But, man, was it awesome for sledding. In second is the glorious and spectacular display of athleticism known as the Super Bowl. If the event itself weren’t wonderful enough, Super Bowl XLV was won by our very own Green Bay Packers. Fans gathered together across the state in hopes of watching the Packers beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. In third are the budget crisis protests that took place at the state capitol this February, grabbing the attention of not only Wisconsinites, but the nation as well (you couldn’t turn on CNN without an update). Too bad we couldn’t make the national spotlight for something good … — EA
