Best Museum/Historic Site
1st Place: Chippewa Valley Museum
2nd Place: Eau Claire Children’s Museum
3rd Place: Leinie’s Lodge
This year’s winners offer a little something for everyone, with both kids and their parents in mind. Taking first place is the Chippewa Valley Museum, chosen by voters as the runner-up last year. Perhaps it’s continued commitment to make the enriching and authentic history of Chippewa Valley accessible to all ages that serves as a testament to their success. For you students, be sure to check out the Glenn Curtis Smoot Library and Archives. With more than 25,000 documents and manuscripts, your next local history project should be a breeze. The Eau Claire Children’s Museum takes second place for its great, low-cost way for kids to develop their creativity. Their “learn though play” philosophy fosters discovery and a love for exploration. Finally, at the Leinie Lodge, you can learn about history of the Leinenkugel Brewing Company, browse the historic bar and museum, or sample a beer on their revered brewery tour. — KF
