Golden Spike Bar & Grill

Altoona, WI

This down-home, kickback bar is like Altoona’s answer to “Cheers.” Happy hours are 3-6pm weekdays as well as during regular-season Packer games and NASCAR races, and they also run beer bucket specials. The Golden Spike hosts pool and dart leagues, and a bean bag league begins in the spring. There are 10 beer taps – including one serving up 1919 Root Beer – and the kitchen is usually open late. The outdoor area, which features a beer garden and an enclosed smoking patio, sometimes has live music.
