Up the creek without a paddle? Rent one from Beaver Creek! The nature reserve is offering rentals of a bunch of cool outdoor equipment including kayaks, GPS units for hiking or geocaching, and telescopes.

Beaver Creek Reserve has been a nature lover’s paradise for the Chippewa Valley since 1947. Even with so many years under their belt, they’re still coming up with new and inventive ways to keep locals fascinated by nature. With the onset of COVID-19 this spring, Beaver Creek Reserve decided to jump on their idea of offering recreational equipment for rent during the summer months at an affordable price — for members and non-members alike.

Each year, Beaver Creek rents out snowshoes and cross-country skis to allow locals the ability to enjoy the crisp breeze of Wisconsin winters. They have now extended this offer into the summertime with kayaks — complete with life jackets and paddles — GPS units, and a telescope to rent.

The GPS and telescope are free for members to rent, with kayaks being only $15 a day. A family membership is a mere $40 for the year, and with these rentals as only one of many amazing perks, you’re sure to get the most out of your investment.

If this is more of a one-time curiosity, both the GPS and the telescope rent for $30 a day and kayaks are $40 a day. In the past, kayaks and GPS units were only available to groups renting the cabins at Beaver Creek or in a program, so this offer is still quite a steal. The kayaks will be available until at least Labor Day, with the others available longer into fall.

There is only one telescope, and kayak rental is dependent on water level and weather. The nature center is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 3pm and on Sundays from 12 to 3pm.
