Listen closely, and you can almost hear the local music emanating from this image.

Have you heard the news? Thanks to the South Barstow Business Improvement District’s new partnership with Converge Radio, you’ll be hearing some sweet tunes downtown nearly all the time. For a number of years, except for a local playlist on weekends, speakers along South Barstow Street have primarily played “elevator” music, according to Dustin Olson, the communications and promotions coordinator of Downtown Eau Claire Inc. Now, Converge Radio maintains a playlist of catchy local tunes you can hear on the streets, with an option for local businesses to stream the music in their buildings. “We are really looking forward to working with Converge to keep as much fresh, local music playing as possible for diners, shoppers, and visitors to enjoy,” said Erin Klaus, co-owner of Tangled Up in Hue and president of the South Barstow BID. The speakers are maintained by the BID and have been expanded to include tunes along Graham Avenue to East Grand Avenue. Jam out to the tunes seven days a week from 9am to 10pm.
