“I remember a day in yoga when we practiced tree pose, being out of balance while in balance. It struck me how much strength it took to wobble while holding still. When we have high winds I see my own maples and oaks doing this dance, moving wildly, yet also stable. I’ve always marveled at their capacity to do this. I feel internal wobbling. It’s requiring a different kind of strength than I am used to inhabiting. Sometimes my branch breaks, or it’s the branch from the tree next to me that has broken. We all have breaks, but together we can return to a stable wobble. Now, when I feel the wobble, I’m going to remember to go inward to the stability found deep within oneself.” – The Artist
