Public Input Sought on Superintendent Search

The Eau Claire school district is starting a search for a new superintendent, and it wants members of the community to play a role in the process. As part of the effort to find a replacement for Superintendent Mary Ann Hardebeck, who is retiring at the end of the school year, the district is holding forums to get input on the characteristics the public seeks in a superintendent and how candidates can engage with the public when they come to Eau Claire for job interviews.

The forums will be at 7pm Wednesday, Oct. 30, at DeLong Middle School and at 9am Saturday, Nov. 2, at Northstar Middle School. Parents, students, alumni, and other community members are invited to attend, as well as to take an anonymous survey, which can be found online at tinyurl.com/ECASDsearch. (The survey will be available through midnight Nov. 2.)

The school board says it will finalize its candidate profile and begin active recruitment in November, with a Jan. 1 deadline for applicants. “From January through March, the board will review all applications, select top candidates for further interviews, and select finalists to visit Eau Claire for on-site interviews,” the board said in a press release. “The board expects to make a decision on the position by late April, allowing the new superintendent to start on July 1, 2020.”
