Fire up Your Floaties!

legendary FATFAR river float slated for June 23

Lauren Fisher |

Tube lovers, unite! FATFAR – the Frenchtown Annual Tube Float and Regatta – takes participants on an easy cruise down the Chippewa River starting around noon on Sunday, June 23. The launch is just below the Chippewa Falls dam, and participants can enjoy their float downriver to Loopy’s Saloon, or even further to Lake Hallie Sportsman’s Club. Shuttles will run continuously beginning at 10am between Loopy’s, the city boat landing, and the Sportsman’s Club. Loopy’s will have tubes, floating coolers, canoes, kayaks, and river-safe beverages available on-site, along with tunes from AV Live and D.J. Duke. Yard games such as giant Jenga and Hammerschlaggen will be available as well, and Loopy’s will hand out mesh bags for trash collection so that the world’s largest float party is also the world’s cleanest. Free shuttles will be provided to get everyone home safely after a day in the sun and water. Guests must be older than 21 years to participate, and – best of all – there’s no cover charge, so anyone can float for free.
