“Roses for My Soul” by Patricia Mayhew Hamm
2012, Watercolor on Yupo, 20x22”

Patricia Mayhew Hamm has been active in the art scene in the Chippewa Valley for many years. She teaches workshops locally and classes in her Chetek studio.

"This painting was done as a demo for a class that I was teaching. It is painted on Yupo, which is not paper but plastic (polypropylene). Class demonstrations rarely turn out this well, but this one did, and I was extremely happy with it. As I am an abstract painter, using pure watercolor, I did not start out to paint flowers, but as it developed the flowers appeared with the addition of some silver metallic powders, and the class decided they were roses for their souls. I find great pleasure in teaching adults who yearn to learn what I can teach them. I have painted for 50 years, and have evolved into abstraction and non-objective work with wonderful and exciting colors. I am a dedicated artist and have painted over 1,000 paintings." – The Artist
