Home-baked goodies, live music, a silent auction, and fundraising for the care and feeding of recovering wildlife – what could be better? Patti Stangel’s Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release is hosting its biannual Musicians’ Fundraiser event from 1-5pm on April 7. The event will feature Chippewa Valley artists Howard Luedtke’s Blue Max, The Sue Orfield Band, Wolves at the Door, and others. It will also offer a silent auction with merchant-contributed items and “enough home-baked goods to satisfy any and all tastes,” said Larry Heagle, the music coordinator of Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release. Founded in 2012, the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release is a charitable organization that depends on tax-deductible donations to continue its experienced care of orphaned and injured birds and mammals, according to their website. It was established after the 2010 closing of the only local rehabilitation center, and continues to help numerous animals every year. With recent mountains of snow, the fundraising event has perfect timing. The extra inches create dangerous conditions for injured birds and animals that get stuck under the snow, Heagle said. He said he hopes this “cataclysmic conflagration” will melt away in time for this fun-filled fundraiser. According to their Facebook page, coordinators of the event hope to raise $1,000 and, as of March 8, have raised $225. More information about the event can be found on the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release Facebook page
