Play a Different Way

Denise Presnell art show offers abstractions of nature

Lauren Fisher |

Works by Denise Presnell, a Wisconsin painter, printmaker, and pastel artist, will be on display at the Volume One Gallery throughout September and October.

The gallery show, entitled “The Big Paintings,” will feature a number of her nature-inspired works. These abstractions of forests and rippling water were painted using oil on canvas, acrylic and oil paint stick on canvas, and a composite medium that uses oil on plexiglass mounted over oil pastel on linen mat board.

Presnell’s work has evolved over the past several years to take a more multimedia approach and incorporate a stronger sense of play. Inspired by Joan Mitchel, Marc Rothko, and Pierre Bonnard, she relies heavily on color to make a statement in her work. The opening reception for Presnell will be 6:30-8:38pm on Friday, Aug. 31, in the Volume One Gallery. More information about Presnell and her art is available at denisepresnell.com
