A Serving of Spiritual Soup

Tom Giffey |

A Chippewa Valley writer and her mother have a serving of heartwarming spiritual soup for readers of the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series. Cassandra Kyser of Boyceville and her mother, Judy Fleming of Amery, collaborated on an essay titled “The Boomerang Bible” in a new collection, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Miracles and More. The book, subtitled 101 Stories of Angels, Divine Intervention, Answered Prayers and Messages from Heaven, was published Feb. 6. The mother-daughter pair’s story centers on a very special Bible that Fleming found at a flea market. (There’s more to the touching tale than that, but we don’t want to spoil it for you!) While Fleming gets the byline –  Chicken Soup stories are always told first-person – Kyser is thanked in the credits. “It’s just a sweet, uplifting story,” Kyser says. “It reminds us that sometimes we are put in a certain place at a certain time for a reason.” You can learn more about the book at chickensoup.com or order it from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other online retailers.
