Eau Claire Poet Garland Named Wisconsin Academy Fellow

Max Garland, Eau Claire resident, poet, musician, and teacher, will be presented with a Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters Fellows Award April 4. Garland will be honored alongside other outstanding Wisconsinites who have distinguished themselves as educators, researchers, mentors, artists, and civic or business leaders. Garland, former state poet laureate, is author of several award-winning books including The Word We Used for It and Hunger Wide as Heaven, and a professor emeritus of English at UW-Eau Claire.
