Good times o' yore at the House of Rock.

The owners of the former House of Rock plan to turn the building into a party venue called the Social Club. In documents submitted to the City of Eau Claire, owners John Mogensen and Lisa Aspenson said that the former rock club, 422 Water St., is being remodeled into a facility that will host weddings, holiday parties, and other events. Chairs, tables, and food will be brought from Mona Lisa’s, 428 Water St.

The City Council was scheduled to vote Nov. 28 on transferring the liquor license from the House of Rock, which closed in July after 17 years of operation, to the Social Club. Mogensen and Aspenson, who on Aug. 31 bought the building that once housed the rock venue, say they have been cleaning and remodeling the space, a process that has included removing old walk-in coolers and the stage.
