City Seeks Public Input on Creative Economy

Eau Claire residents are being invited to provide feedback that will influence community decision-making as part of the Chippewa Valley Future Regions project. The just-launched project is focused on sustaining and expanding the Chippewa Valley’s creative economy, and involves bringing together people with a stake in the creative economy for strategy sessions over the coming months. In addition to these meetings, the City of Eau Claire will be using Polco, an online platform, to encourage civic engagement. “The Future Regions project uses a process called strategic foresight to analyze the current state of the region’s creative economy and prioritize opportunities and plans over the next 20 years,” the city said in a media release. “During the Future Regions project, questions will be posted directly to residents regarding the creative economy. The feedback will be used to drive the decision-making process during the project. By increasing civic engagement through web-based polling, there is an opportunity to connect with Eau Claire residents at their convenience and gather feedback to collectively move policy forward.” Residents are invited to create a free, private account at https://polco.us. Once they have signed up, they will be able to provide input on questions such as “Which of these SOCIAL trends do you see as the most likely to have a large impact on the Chippewa Valley region in twenty years?” and “What does the term Creative Economy mean to you in the Chippewa Valley?”
