Hard-Earned Laughs

the great Sean Patton returns to Eau Claire for more

Eric Christenson |

One of the funniest working comedians in the country is returning to Eau Claire for yet another night of world-class storytelling and gut-busting jokes. Since he toured through the city in 2015, Sean Patton liked what he found so much, he’s made it a point to return to our fair city each year since. When he takes the stage on Sept. 27, it’ll be his third time headlining at The Plus in downtown EC, and each time he brings a whole new set of fiery material tucked in his signature act of goofball wisdom, expertly-crafted silliness, and quick-witted delivery. Patton has appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Conan, and he released his first half-hour special on Comedy Central in 2013.  More recently, he’s been on @midnight, The Meltdown, This Is Not Happening, Showtime’s Live from SXSW, and TruTv’s Comedy Knockout. And as an actor, he’s appeared on IFC’S Maron and Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer. Patton’s critically lauded act is not one to miss, especially this close to home. But don’t take our word for it. Here’s what The New York Times (ever heard of it?) had to say about seeing Patton live. “He’s dynamite, even with ordinary material, turning standard Brooklyn hipster jokes into a stomping, roaring tour de force, and elevating a bit about sex-performance anxiety into high-stakes comedy. He’s the rare comic who goes over as well in a comedy club as in a bar basement.” Tickets are only $10, which is frankly a steal, and if you cop some in advance of the show, you can enjoy your first beverage on the house as well as preferred seating. Doors open at 7:30pm, the show starts at 8pm, and it’s all ages (though 18+ is advisable).
