Hoof It Over to 22 Chevaux

Siblings Will Jannusch and Amy Lorbecki don’t horse around when it comes to home décor. That’s why they’re taking on a new business venture – 22 Chevaux (that’s “horses” in French) – that specializes in high-quality, hardwood furniture. Originally, Jannusch and Lorbecki set out to sell custom mahogany glider rocking horses, but soon became interested in bringing other pieces to the Chippewa Valley.

22 Chevaux touts its furniture selection not only for its ability to last generations, but also because it’s made using only sustainable, plantation, and recycled solid woods. That means no clear-cutting, no particleboard, and no veneering.

Located at 215 S. Dewey St. (across from the fire station), 22 Chevaux offers hand-carved day beds, dining sets, cabinets, dressers, butcher block tables, and other heirloom pieces made largely from exotic woods such as mahogany, teak, teak root, boat wood, and acacia.

“We’re an independent retailer in a wholesale environment with wholesale prices, and we’re bringing back hardwood to America at a decent price,” Jannusch explains. If the hand-carved pieces don’t get you, then maybe the other home décor will. A wide selection of bird baths, statues, mosaic vases, and even custom tiki-huts are available, all at factory direct pricing that you just can’t say neigh to. The store is open Monday through Saturday, 11am-7pm.
