The Nucleus now offers a select dinner menu

One of Eau Claire’s favorite breakfast joints, The Nucleus, has recently opened its doors for dinner. After years of deliberation and months of recipe tasting in the kitchen, Nuc @ Night is finally here. The new dinner service offers an array of small and large plates on an ever-changing menu heavily influenced by the Kachmar family’s experiences living around the country. “The owners have a wide array of experience with different foods and places, and they’re bringing that here while also embracing a Midwest feel with Midwestern prices,” manager Kendra Kuehl explains. Although the legendary Lemon Ricotta Hot Cakes (which deserve their own restaurant) won’t be available, guests can try anything from shrimp tacos to homemade Swedish meatballs to crab cakes and more. The biggest focus, however, is the extensive wine selection and wine bar, which Kuehl describes as elegant and accessible. Over half of the wines are available by the glass and come from locales such as California, Oregon, and France. For those higher-end wines, a Coravin system is used so that customers can enjoy a glass without having to purchase a full bottle. With just half the staff and utilizing only half the dining space, this new dinner service is more intimate and tranquil when compared to their fast-paced breakfasts. “We tried to create a space where customers are not overwhelmed by all of the people around them, but they’re focused on their meal and their company or themselves in that moment,” Keuhl said. Dinner and wine are being served Thursday through Saturday, 5-10pm (the kitchen closes at 9:30!) with an official grand opening set for Aug. 11.
