A new film festival is coming to town, boasting a lot of impressive qualities that are sure to make a great addition to Eau Claire’s vibrant artistic community. The inaugural Eau Claire World Film Festival (Sept. 28-Oct. 1) will showcase various genres of film in several downtown spots. The Micon Downtown Cinema will be the primary venue for the festival, with additional events planned at UW-Eau Claire, Caffe Tempo, and The Oxbow Hotel and The Lismore. The Oxbow and Lismore are offering special discounts for festival goers who register through the Eau Claire World Film Festival website, www.eauclaireworldfilmfest.com. The films will cover a lot of ground, literally, with features from all around the world. You’ll be able to enjoy narrative features, documentaries, animated films, children’s films, and documentary shorts. In addition to a huge array of films, special guest David Burton Morris, a Hollywood film director and St. Paul native, will be screening and speaking about his 1988 film, Patti Rocks. Additionally, on Oct. 1 there will be a screening of filmmaker John Mitchell’s film Cheeseheads: The Documentary, followed by a Q&A session.
