“Jim” by Aryn Widule
Hand-cut stencils and aerosol on board 16” x 20”

Aryn Widule lives in the town of Union, makes art with spray paint, and has some dogs. He’s currently a perpetual student at UW-Eau Claire.

“Jim is based off a photo of a man during the Dust Bowl. It’s a period of time that’s always been interesting to me many reasons, least of which the stories you can see in the faces of people who were suffering at that time. I use aerosol spray paint over hand-cut stencils for my art because I think it’s pretty great that we can use paint from the hardware store to make art that someone might hang on their wall.” – The Artist

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a message.
