“Musician’s Choice,” the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra’s final concert of the 2016-17 season, will be  held April 22, at Grace Lutheran Church. Conductor Frank A. Watkins will lead the orchestra in performing the following works: Franz Schubert’s Overture in the Italian Style; Haydn’s Violincello Concerto No. 1 in C Major (featuring Paul Kosower as cello soloist); J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 in F Major featuring solo horns, three oboes, a  bassoon, and a solo violin; and Bach’s Concerto No. 1 in D minor featuring Dr. Owen Lovell as solo pianist. Lovell, assistant professor of music and coordinator of the keyboard area at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Georgia, is returning to Eau Claire, where he served on the piano and keyboard faculty at UWEC. Kosower, also a former UWEC faculty member, is now director of music and organist at Christ Methodist Church in Rochester, Minnesota. He has soloed with many symphony orchestras including the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. And not all the art will be auditory: Abstract visual art by Dominique Thévenin will also be exhibited.
