A pair of economic development professionals have been chosen to represent Eau Claire in the TV travel adventure series Fireball Run, which will begin its 11th season next fall in Eau Claire. Luke Hanson, executive director of the Eau Claire Area Economic Development Corp., and Julie Thoney, community service and economic development manager for Xcel Energy, will drive a hybrid car as they compete in the show, which will wind a roughly 2,000-mile path from Eau Claire to Rapid City, South Dakota. The Leader-Telegram reports that the opening celebration for the show will be Saturday, Sept. 23, at Phoenix Park and will occur at the same time as the International Fall Festival, which promises to draw a large crowd to downtown Eau Claire. Fireball Run, which streams on Amazon Prime, is described as a “life-sized trivia game” that combines elements of travelogue, reality show, and strategy game.
