Master Singers End Season With Joyful Noise

Emily Kinzel |

With their 24th annual concert season coming to a close, The Master Singers, conducted by Gary Schwartzhoff, will present “Choral Images 2017: Jubilate Deo!” at 2pm Sunday, March 19, at First Congressional United Church of Christ, 310 Broadway St., Eau Claire. The concert will feature the Midwest premiere of Dan Forrest’s “Jubilate Deo,” which celebrates cultural diversity in the Christian community. The composition features a broad spectrum of languages, including liturgical Latin, Hebrew, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Zulu, Spanish, and English. According to a press release, “The result is a stunning global celebration of joy, as all the earth sings as one, ‘omnis terra, jubilate’ (all ye lands, be joyful).” The Master Singers will be bolstered in the performance by alumni members as well as by a 20-member chamber orchestra. The concert will also include the premiere of a choral work by The Master Singers’ composer-in-residence, Connor Koppin, which ties music and literature together. Tickets are available at Festival Foods and First Congregational as well as at the door. Admission is by season pass or $18 for adults and $5 for students.
