Northern Spirit Radio Dials up October Fun-Raiser

Northern Spirit Radio is cooking up a live and virtual Heartland Potluck of Community Voices and Music on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 6-9pm at the Plymouth Congregational Church UCC, 2010 Moholt Drive, Eau Claire. Scott Morfitt of Blugold Radio will emcee the event “for Fun, ProFundity, and Funds.” NSR is a listener-supported, nonprofit radio production company that focuses on peace and social justice through stories, music, and spirituality. Among those performing and speaking live will be thinkers and doers Mike McCabe of BlueJeanNation.com and Matthew Rothschild, former editor of The Progressive magazine and now executive director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, as well as musicians Ken Lonquist and Squirrel Talk (Eau Claire’s Joe Maurer and Deirdre Jenkins). The evening will also include virtual musical performances, including guitarist Peter Leidy of Madison; singer-songwriter, educator, and humorist Peter Alsop, of California; songwriter, activist, and organizer Si Kahn, of North Carolina; singer-songwriter Anne Hills, of North Carolina; eco-edu-tainment/organic hip-hop and world beats from Magic Mama, of Oregon; and musician and activist Tom Rowley, of Missouri. In addition to entertainment, there will be homemade pizza, salad, and beverages. Suggested donation for the event starts at $30.
