Get ready to milk June Dairy Month for all it’s worth: The Children’s Museum of Eau Claire has a series of dairy good times planned, all centered around the anticipated arrival of a brand new calf. It seems that Oreo – the Holstein who kids can “milk” in the Family Farm exhibit on the Museum’s second floor – is set to have a baby soon. The dairy-related fun begins at the quarterly Family Free Play Night from 4-7pm Thursday, June 16, during which kids (and their grown-ups) can make ice cream and butter, sample cheese, get painted with cow spots, and more. Then, from noon to 1pm on Friday, June 24, the museum’s staff will throw a “moo-velous” baby shower for Oreo. The party, which will be free with regular museum admission, will include an ice cream sundae bar, games, and the opportunity to vote on the calf’s name. Finally, if you’re excited to meet the little bovine, the museum is planning a Breakfast on the Bitty Farm at 7am Saturday, June 25. The first 100 people who pay $6 each for seats at the breakfast will dine on French toast, eggs, sausage, milk, coffee, and breakfast sundaes. And, according to the museum, “They’ll also have first dibs on meeting the new calf, feeding it milk from a bottle, and learning its name during this early morning exhibit unveil. The calf will reside in its own pen in the Family Barn, under the watchful eye of Oreo.” Reserve your ticket now for the Valley’s most unique dairy breakfast by calling (715) 832-5437.
