March Thaw, Lowes Creek” by Jeff Nelson
watercolor, 16” x 20”

Jeff Nelson is a reassigned teacher. After 34 years of teaching mathematics his new assignment is art. He works primarily with watercolor and oils.

This piece was inspired by a walk in early spring along Lowes Creek Trail.   The compelling contrast of seasons can be felt in this painting. Jeff depicts a warming sun as it filters through the trees. A gentle breeze rolls over the remaining snow suggesting the end of one season and the beginning of the next.

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a letter.
