City of Eau Claire Launches Eco-Awards

V1 Staff

In the immortal words of Kermit the Frog, it ain’t easy being green – but at least now it may get you an award. The City of Eau Claire’s Advisory Commission on Sustainability is seeking nominations for the first-ever Sustainable Eau Claire Awards. The awards – which will be given out on Earth Day (April 22) – will recognize “individuals, businesses, and organizations that are committed to creating a more sustainable Eau Claire.” Possible categories include clean-up or beautification; energy (renewables, efficiency, or conservation); environmental education; natural resources stewardship; green building design; local, sustainable, and healthy food; and more. Applications are due by 5pm Friday, March 4. To learn more about the program and how you can apply, call associate city planner Ned Noel at (715) 839-4914 or visit tinyurl.com/SustainableEC.
